Recipe: Blooming Onion

Forget about onion rings! There is a new way to enjoy the delicate taste of onion. Well, technically it's almost the same as onion rings. You coat the onion into the batter and fry it. But, as a said before there is a trick that will your onion looks beautiful and you'll never make a mess and tired when cutting it into rings and coat in batter one by one. The trick is by cutting the onion into a beautiful flower! No more blabbering about how beautiful it is. Just check the recipe below!

Blooming Onion Recipe
Serving: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole big Onion
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 2 Egg, beaten


How to make blooming onion:

1. Slice 3/4 onion from the top to the bottom or root, be careful not to cut the bottom. Spread the onion and make into blooming flower. Set aside.







2. Meanwhile, combine all ingredients except the egg.









3. Dip the onion to the egg and coat it well.

4. Dust the flour evenly then to the egg and flour once more.









5. Heat oil in medium heat then fry the onion until golden brown and crispy.

6. Remove and drain the excess oil. Serve with your favorite sauce.




Cooking Note:


Well, i'm so sorry that I didn't take the picture while frying the onion but I have to make sure you guys that it should deep fried so the onion can be fried and cooked evenly.


And if you guys don't have paprika powder, that's totally fine. Use regular chili powder and cut the measurement into half. You don't want your blooming onion hot on fire, don't you? For those who don't know yet, the regular chili powder is hotter than paprika powder. So, you have to be careful guys unless you have a thing for spicy food.
